Music festival in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam
Every year for three weeks in June, the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival takes place in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens of Potsdam & Berlin and in the historic center of Potsdam and its surroundings. You will be offered music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods in historically informed performance practice. In recent years the music festival has also opened up to other genres, including jazz, world music and new music. With very moderate prices and around 80 events, the music festival attracts many visitors to Potsdam every year.
Potsdam night of experience (Potsdamer Erlebnisnacht)
The Potsdam night of experience (Potsdamer Erlebnisnacht) is an annual festival in the city center – with music, acrobats and shopping. Restaurateurs, traders and tradespeople invite you to a party in downtown Potsdam. The festival attracts thousands of visitors and is definitely worth a visit.
Fireworks Symphony Potsdam (Feuerwerkssinfonie Potsdam)
The fireworks festival with competition in the Volkspark Potsdam is one of the highlights in summer every year. The best fireworkers present themselves to the audience in the Volkspark Potsdam at the Potsdam Fireworks Symphony. Many different fireworks compositions from music and sophisticated pyro shows are presented by the international starting field. It takes place annually in the Volkspark Potsdam on two evenings.

Museum Barberini
From 2013 to the end of 2016, thanks to donations from Hasso Plattner, the Barberini Palace was rebuilt to a large extent from the original, for use as the “Museum Barberini” art house. Since it opened, you can now visit permanent and temporary art exhibitions there. Based on the works of the collection of the founder and patron Hasso Plattner, three changing exhibitions per year are presented with loans from international museums and private collections. A real highlight in Potsdam.
Filmmuseum Potsdam
The Filmmuseum Potsdam is the oldest film museum in Germany. It is located in the stables of the former city palace in Potsdam. The Marstall of the Potsdam City Palace is an elongated building between the Schlossstrasse and the Breiten Strasse in Potsdam and is the oldest surviving structure in the city. Potsdam Museum – Forum for Art and History
The Potsdam Museum has been located in the historic center of Potsdam in the old town hall, right next to the Barberini Museum, since 2012. A variety of objects relating to the city’s culture and history are presented to visitors on over 1,300m² of exhibition space. In a permanent exhibition “Potsdam. A city makes history ”you can take a stroll through Potsdam’s more than 1000 years of history.

House of Brandenburg-Prussian History
In the historic building of the former royal carriage (horse) stable at Am Neuen Markt 9 there is now an exhibition and event center. The building was originally built between 1787 and 1790 based on designs by the court architect Andreas Ludwig Krüger. The House of Brandenburg-Prussian History works as a lively forum for dealing with the history of Brandenburg-Prussia, presents exhibitions, offers a diverse educational program and invites you to numerous events. Natural History Museum Potsdam
The Potsdam Natural History Museum is now located in the former “Ständehaus der Zauche”, a historic building in the center of Potsdam. The building was built in 1770 according to plans by Georg Christian Unger and was badly damaged in the Second World War. Today it is home to numerous natural treasures in Brandenburg. The museum’s exhibitions give an insight into the biodiversity of insects, fish, birds and mammals in the state of Brandenburg. The highlight of the museum is the cold water aquarium, in which cifca 40 native fish species live – from the roach to the river catfish. The focus of the museum is therefore also on the Brandenburg fish fauna. The visit is possible with the combined ticket for four museums.
Lindenstraße Memorial Site
The Lindenstraße Memorial Site in Brandenburg is a central place of remembrance and education, just a short walk from Sanssouci Park. Housed in a former prison and courthouse, it commemorates political persecution and imprisonment in the Nazi era, the Soviet occupation zone, and the GDR. It also explores the successful overcoming of SED dictatorship through the Peaceful Revolution of 1989/90.

Babelsberg Film Park
The Babelsberg Film Park is a seasonal amusement park in the Babelsberg district of Potsdam. In the theme park there are over 20 film-specific attractions, four shows, a 4D and XD cinema, original sets and exhibition areas on film and the film trade. With the fixed but also changing events, it is one of the highlights, especially for families and children.

Potsdamer Schlösserlauf (half marathon)
There are also some interesting events in Potsdam for athletes. Among other things, the Potsdamer Schlösserlauf takes place annually, which is organized by the Stadtsportbund Potsdam e.V. The run (circuit) leads along the many sights of Potsdam. The start is from the “Luftschiffhafen”, then the run leads through the Potsdam city center, along the Babelsberg Park to the Glienicker Bridge and back over the New Garden, the Sanssouci Palace and the New Palace. The run is also offered as a 10 km route.
Stadtwerkefest in Potsdamer Lustgarten
With up to 60,000 enthusiastic visitors, the Stadtwerke-Fest is the largest open-air event in Potsdam. Every year, at the end of June / beginning of July, cultural highlights are offered on three event days. With classical music on Friday and pop and rock concerts with well-known national and international artists on Saturday, there is a highlight for every visitor. Events for children and families also take place on Sunday and round off the program.
