2018 and 2019 were a great success
As in previous years, the 2018 and 2019 events were a great success. In 2018, 35,000 visitors watched the festival over two days. The event was reorganized for the 20th anniversary. The motto for 2018 was “Extravaganza”. On two evenings, the festival offered musical performances and illuminations of the castles in Sanssouci Park. Due to the general drought, the organizers had to forego the traditional fireworks. Instead, there were colorful laser shows. That was a very good decision and it didn’t dampen the mood at all.
2019 became Italian
The illuminations of the castles in Sanssouci Park could also be admired in 2019. The event took place on August 16 and 17. Since the state capital Potsdam celebrated an Italian year in 2019, the motto for 2019 was also “Una Notte Italiana” – an Italian night. The visitors were enchanted by the new perspective and the different lighting conditions of the Sanssouci Palace, the New Palace, the Orangery and the many other sights of the Sanssouci Palace Park.
In 2019, in contrast to previous years, there was another access to the festival area at Charlottenhof Palace. The castle, which is kept in the style of Italian villas, became part of the castle night.
In 2021 the Potsdam Palace Night took place under the French-inspired motto “Les rendez-vous au Park Sanssouci”. In addition to an opulent light spectacle in the interplay of light projections, acrobatics and music, stars from radio and television presented works from world literature as part of “Quiet tones, striking voices, exciting story (s)”.
Current program of the Potsdam Palace Night 2022
In 2022 you can again look forward to an evening full of acrobatics, cabaret and music. Under the motto ¡Viva! there will again be a varied, colorful and creatively designed program with a star cast. In 2022, prominent voices such as Max Moor, Katty Salié , Peter Kurth, Devid Striesow and Andrea Sawatzki & Christian Berkel from the German film and television landscape will skilfully stage texts from literary classics from the world of fantasy. You can also look forward to the Spanish circus troupe „Flotados“, which will delight visitors with a magical and breathtaking show combining artistry, music and projection at a dizzy height of 8 metres. Further highlights will be the Spanish theater company “Companyia La Tal: Carilló” be. Let yourself be surprised by many other program highlights.

In 2023, the Potsdam Palace Night drew an impressive number of 35,000 visitors. The event once again offered a captivating blend of elaborate installations, national and international artists, and a carefully curated culinary selection that catered to every taste. Potsdam Palace Night 2024 – Grand Anniversary Edition “Curtain Up!”
In 2024, once again, an evening filled with acrobatics, cabaret, and music awaits you at the Potsdam Palace Night. The 25th edition – the grand anniversary edition of the Potsdam Palace Night – will take place on August 9th and 10th, 2024, under the theme “Curtain Up!” The Sanssouci Palace and Sanssouci Park will be illuminated in magnificent splendor, with fantastic light installations showcasing the historical palaces. Look forward to exhilarating concerts, captivating theatrical performances, enchanting variety and literary acts, as well as the popular garden tours.
In 2024, once again, high-profile international artists will be featured, including Soul-Star Ingrid Arthur, renowned for her captivating live performances and hits like “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls. Visitors can expect a fascinating spectacle with breathtaking aerial acrobatics at dizzying heights of twelve meters. This impressive performance takes place on an air-filled, magically illuminated arch that floats and dances through the air. In 2024, the literary program and the popular themed tours continue to be crowd-pleasers, providing insights into the secrets of the royal garden.
